There have been only eight winners of the coveted Gordon R. McGregor Trophy which was first awarded in 1973. Our own Harry Halton is the eighth: the Royal Canadian Air Force Association presented the trophy to him late last year in “… recognition of outstanding and meritorious achievement by Canadians in the field of air transportation….” Previous trophy winners include Claude Taylor in 1980, when he was President of Air Canada, Max Ward in 1979 (President, Wardair) and Lt. Col. W.K. (Bill) Carr, CMM, DFC, CB, Commander Air Command in 1977, now Gen., Ret’d. Canadair Inc. vice president of government sales. The trophy was not awarded in 1978. Taking a good look at the trophy are, from left: Col A. J. Bauer, CD (CF Retd); B. Gen.B.A. Howard, CD (CF Ret’d) and Harry Halton, Canadair Limited executive vice president.
