F/O E. Sabourin, G.M., C.D. -- On 9 January 1957 at Rivers Manitoba, he was carrying out an air-to-ground rocket firing exercise in a T-33 jet aircraft armed with rockets with explosive heads instantaneous fused. Following his first attack, there was an explosion under the port wing. After gaining control of the aircraft at about 500 feet, he disregarded advice to abandon the T-33 and chose to land at Shilo which he did successfuly. His actions saved a valuable aircraft and eliminated the possibility of the abandoned aircraft crashing into civilian or military accommodations in the area.
