Welcome to the site for the 75th anniversary of 406 Lynx Squadron. This site will be under construction for a while, and of course there will be regular updates, so please check back regularly.
On 5 May 1941, No. 406 Squadron RCAF was created at RAF Acklington. Now, 75 years later, the unit is still operational as part of the CH-124 Sea King community. To celebrate 406’s long standing, and diverse history, a multi-day event will be held from Friday the 13 May – Saturday the 14 May 2016 for all past and present members!
Here is the info thus far:
Friday, 13 May: Late afternoon / evening – Meet and Greet in the Shearwater Aviation Museum. Entertainment is in the works, and there will be numerous displays from the Archives. Also, a speaker’s corner will be set up. You can relate stories of your time at 406 Squadron. These will be recorded for the Squadron Archives, and for the Canada Remembers project.
Saturday, 14 May: Morning – 406 (M) OTS parade in the Archdale (423 Sqn) Hangar
Afternoon – Tours of the Maritime Helicopter Training Centre, the Shearwater Aviation Museum, a Sea King and Cyclone helicopter
Evening – Mixed Dining in will be held at Casino Nova Scotia. We have room for a maximum of 300 persons, so get your Registration forms in soonest!
